Diabetes #HealthTip of the Day
Choose healthier carbohydrates
Because all carbohydrates affect blood glucose levels, it's critical to understand which foods include carbohydrates.
Choose the healthier foods that contain carbs and be aware of your portion sizes.
Here are some carbohydrate sources that are good for you:
- whole grains like brown rice, buckwheat, and whole oats
- fruit
- vegetables
- chickpeas, beans and lentils
- dairy like unsweetened yogurt and milk
At the same time, foods low in fiber, such as white bread, white rice, and highly processed cereals, should be avoided.
If you're not sure, look at the labels of foods to see if they're high in fiber.
